This professional football player sustained repeated small finger PIP joint dislocations during his career. He had one attempt at surgical correction several years previous that failed. He was able to play by manually straightening the small finger and taping it to the adjacent ring finger. He did not complain of pain, just dysfunction.
Tendon graft was harvested from his forearm and used to re-create the PIP joint radial collateral ligament. At final follow-up his motion was functional and improved, he had no pain and the joint was stable.
